Right guys i know this is not calibra related BUT i was hoping someone on here knows how to adjust the handbrake on a cinq as i bought one for the missus but i cant adjust the handbrake as it wont hold very well and it and her are doing my head in.

the shoes are self adjusting.there is adjustment where the main cable attaches on to the handbrake lever.but the shoes are bad for the linnings coming adrift from the shoe.

the only adjuster i can see is in the middle of the car ive been under the car and underneath the handbrake is a pulley wheel its had new shoes , cables and drums but i cant see any type of other adjustment anywhere

is the adjuster not under the actual handbrake lever itself

if its like an escort take the handbreak gaitor off and tighten the nut on the threaded end of the cable

failing that go to a motor factors and look at one or all the parts to gauge where it is

there is no adjuster under the handbreak lever at all. Ive never come across a braking system like it. There was a lot of play around the levers that feed into the rear drums so i pulled the cables both side and put a jubilee clip on it to try and take the slack up worked for a littlw while then went to not holding again . ive asjed a couple of garages and neither seems to know what to do ? as ive said its doing my head in plus its the missus that drives it so i see an insurance claim soon where she has rolled back into someone !!!!!!!!!!!!!
