Brake ECU light

Hi all. The 'Disk brakes....pads worn' (as written in the book that comes with the calibra) light is constantly on. The pads are new so I am slightly confused. There is actually a problem with the brakes. Initially you don't get any resistance from the brakes till one's foot is nearly pushing the break pedal to the floor then if one releases one's foot and press's the pedal for a second time straight after releasing the pedal resistance returns to the pedal. After not touching the brakes for a while the resistance on the pedal is back to the starting state..i.e. nothing till pedal is almost touching the ground. Any suggestions?

the new pads probably dont have sensors attatched to them as they are more expensive. the spoungy break pedal sounds to me like it has air in the system, try bleeding the brakes

I agree with Dooley, You may wanna try the servo as well, may be leaking.

As above, the sensors need to be replaced when the pads are done. Or you could snip off the sensors and short the two wires to complete the circuit.
Spongy pedal sounds like there is air in the system, did you change the brake fluid/bleed the brakes when you did the pads?
