Weird Electrical Happenings
Morning All,
Could use a little advice on the following:
Last night I was coming back from dropping my bro off at the airport. Sat doing motorway cruise speed, braked into a 50 zone then backed off for some roadworks down to 30.
As i backed off the throttle, the car felt like it was holding back. As i moved into the inside lane i saw that the engine warning light (pic of engine with bolt of electricity going through) was on! It stayed on for a couple of seconds then went out and has been fine since.
Is the holding back feeling the car going into limp mode? Lambda sensor problem?
Is the warning light the alternator?
Not sure if it's related, but had my warning light come on to say i had a brake light out. Got my neighbour to check and i do. Changed bulbs when i got home last night, but light never went out and bulbs looked fine. Drove to work this morning (with old bulbs still fitted), warning light went out?!
Lose connection i think for that one.
Sorry for the long thread, but hope some kind person can shed some light on this

<!--QuoteBegin-mevans+--><div class='quotetop'>(mevans)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->does the v6 come with one of those safety modes. where if there is a prtoblem, the ECU will stop the car going over a certain speed or revs. I know I had one on my corsa, bcz it limited me to 20mph for a good few miles before i reset the ECU!!
Hope this helps mate.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->yes it does if something goes wrong it cuts in and will let you drive it on limp mod

jester, not sure if it will help, but i experienced a similar problem, and it was when you were going along then booted it the engine management light would flicker then come on but when u backed off it would go out, it might be worth trying just to see if it helps cleaning the air flow sensor electrical connection, thats what i did with mine and its never had a problem since
have a look at the photo below and that shows you where it is, take the electrical connector off, clean it up with some wd40 and just clean the contacts then put it back on and see if it happens again, usually faults like that are caused by dirty connections

give it a go and see if it helps, has this happened more than once or just yesterday
p.s. its the white one

Cheers mate, will give that a shot. Only happened the once, but want to make sure it doesn't happen on the way down to Gatwick in 2 weeks lol
Last thing i want is to have to drive 300 miles there and then back again in limp mode!!
White plug, check. Will get some WD40 and give it a whirl.
Still no idea what happened to the brake lights...must have been a loose connection somewhere.
I love these electrical probs, its like a technical mystery lol
