Are all 8V ECU's the same?

by Leigh » Tue Jun 06, 2006 12:35 am

Nie easy one..
Does anyone know if all the 8V's (Calibra's at least with C20NE's) ECU's are/were the same, regardless of age, or did they change as the years went on? (like the ABS had a different unit later on.)
Just thought it might be handy to grab a spare ECU when they pop up from time to time if I can get one cheap, 'just in case'.

Try looking at the top buzz site.
Not sure if all the same as the bosch tronic fuel injection may of changes in some of the later models to cope with cats/lambda systems

All Calibra 8V's are Bosch M1.5 wereas the non cat/lambda ECU's where Bosch M4.1. They may be different though assome would have the transponder fitted.

B*gger, forgot about the transponder. IIRC that was a later security upgrade wasn't it?
Not something I desperately need, more one of those long standing questions I've wondered about.
Thanks for the offer Rusty, totally skint at the moment tho, and probably looking at about £300 worth of parts and work to pass MOT (new centre and frontpipe sections for exhaust, new rear brake compensator, welding handbrake mount, new handbrake shoes etc...grrr....and that's BEFORE it goes through MOT and they 'find' something else..)
