AFM Sensor on V6

by simonV6 » Sun Jun 18, 2006 8:51 pm

I have just noticed that there is some kind of sensor infront of my AFM on the V6?????

Does anyone know what this is for as I have just took it off to fit an air filter and have just left it by the side o the filter :0

surely that's a good thing for performance if I leave it in a cool place.???

it will think the engine is taking in cold air therefore more performance??

Or am I thinking wrongly???

Will it damage it in anyway?

Well its there for a reason isn't it?

No it won't run any better.
Best to put it back in.

Ok.

Will it do if it is infront of the filter?

Its still reading the air that is going into the AFM!!

It should really be in the air flow to get an acurate reading.

Definitely put it back.
Yes you can theoretically trick the ECU into injecting more fuel because it thinks the air is colder than it is BUT the V6 ECU will compensate for the over fuelling using the reading from lambda sensor and cut back the fuel injection cycle. End result is a poor running V6 with no benefit gained.
