Where's the fuel leaking from?

Any electrical issues

It may be a small leak in the fuel return line. With the engine at idle the fuel pressure in the fuel rail will need to be about 0.8 bar less, as the vacuum opens the fuel pressure regulator and the return line therefore has a residual 0.8 bar of extra pressure ( as opposed to a small flow when hotwiring without the engine running) may well be the rubber hose that runs next to the fuel pump supply hose. (up to the top of the tank)

My advice - Drop the tank and replace both hoses.

My fuel line going to the pump split and all the air being sucked up eventually caused the pump to seize up. 2 quid for hose, 136 quid for a new pump. :-(

i had the same problem on the V6, when it first started, the hose on the fuel rail was leaking on the sleeve on the hose(common problem), as they where updated hoses. when the pressure built up, it stopped leaking. i just removed the sleeve and put a clip around it and bingo, sorted. best to do both.

I'd definately check the 2 hoses going to the fuel rail as on mine they looked ok and with the fuel system pressurised they didn't leak but as soon as I started the car the hose going to the regulator start squriting fuel all over the sound deadning. So a trip to Vaux for me tomorrow.

Mine started smelling of petrol recently it was a braided hose going to the fuel rail, it was fine when pressure had reduced but on starting, the hose started to turn darker due to it being wet with fuel, I just loosened the jubilee clip pushed it on as hard as I could and re-tightened the clip, problem solved.

mine leaked from the rear yesterday (where the rubber hose meets the metal line). loads of fuel on the floor. left it two hours and started it again. NO FUEL DRIPPING! mine too has been left at least 2 weeks, but red light on for fuel. would the air in the tank expand enough to cause a pressure build up?

the tanks have breathers so i doubt it, unless the breather is blocked
