Wisbone Differences

by C411BRA » Wed Jun 28, 2006 9:35 am

Anyone know if V6 wishbones are the same as the rest of the range? Vauxhall says they are different, but all the local motor factores say they are the same across the range.

Also whats the difference between early and late type wishbones?, is it the change in design to stop them cracking. Like they did with Astras and Cavs. And can they be retro fitted to early cars?

there are early and late type wishbones? i thought the front wishbones were all the same for all cavs(even the non-independent-rear-suspension cavs) and callys

The 'new' version have an extra lip around the edge for additional strength, which the early ones did not. I thought they were all the same too, i've done the wishbones on my V6 and turbo and there is no noticable difference.

Thats what I thought, a know the astra ones had the lip mod, to top flexing and cracking. I guess the guy at Vaux was fibbing for a bit of extra wodge.

I'll get them from my motor factors then.

it must be vauxhall policy to add a surcharge onto parts for having a calibra

The bloke at the parts counter has been there at least 12 years (as long as I have lived here) and normally has part numbers coming out his ears.

I was just trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) the get the Vauxhall EPC (Elecronic Parts Catalogue) going on my pc to check it out. But I cant make it work, even with the dongle crack (oo err missus).
