...when I brake my offside side light comes on. Where's the best place to start looking to solve it? I noticed it on the way to buy some touch up pens from Half*rds so bought a new side light and it's still doing it. The side lights and brake lights work as they should do too

Had a better look round last night and can't find an earth on the driver's side but followed a wire to the big earth point on the shell near the battery. Also found out that my rear left brake light doesn't light up that bright, so is the power from this going to my front right sidelight???

the earth for the rear lights is actually in the boot behind the plastic trim at the back (5 plastic plugs and 3 nuts / bolts holding it on) on a screw / bolt either side

check all wiring connecters looking for a corroded connecter or broken wire etc, but it could be anywhere. try directly earthing the light cluster to the body, if everything works make it a pernament connection . i had the same on a vr6 turned out the earth spade in the plug had corroded away solved the problem as described making a direct earth.... good luck

Take out the brake bulb that doesn't light and see if the side lights come on then.

Do the same with the otherbrake light if that does't solve it.

Just did this before I tried wiring in an earth, took the dodgy side out and the sidelight didn't come on. The bulb/holder is the outside one, the stop/tail one on the bottom row. Swapped the sides over for good measure and the brake bulb doesn't light up either on the other side. So I take it I need either a new bulb (which I'll get in the morning) or a new holder? When the dodgy bulb/holder is not in place the sidelight doesn't come on.
