Front suspension
Had the SE2 for a month now so have got use to it somewhat.
The questions i have are
1. can feel a knock when changing from 1st to 2nd which feels as if it comes from the suspension area. could this be the wishbones that need changing?
2. when i picked it up suffered from the usual wheel wobble at 60mph. had the tracking done and still this was an issue. had it rechecked and it was still doing it. changed the front tyres to the back as the back are fairly new and this cured problem (balance issue). still get some vibration so again wondered if it could be the wishbones.
3. have 17/215/45's on it and lowered 40 with gmax shocks on the rear and i think standard on the front so feel every bump on the road and it appears bouncy (suspension seems ok on the fron) so again could this be wishbones.
I ask these as i have never had a problem in the wishbone area on the SE1
Any advice or am i way out in my diagnosis doctor

I don't think the wishbones can make it knock when chaging gear. But engine mounts can. Check all the mounts specially the rear mount by the gearbox. They could have got contaminated/destroyed over the time.
As for vibration, I had it in my Cav MkIII and never managed to solve it. It used to vibrate at 60mph and then goes smoothly again at 70mph.
Could be lots of things:
Steering rack, tie rods, wishbones, wheels( hit the kerb and not 100% straight), engine mounts and ...
Cheers

If the front wheels were out of balance, buckled (or flatspotted ?) and you stuck them straight on the back you would still feel the vibration.
Id say get all 4 wheels checked for buckles and have them all balanced.
Also might be worth getting an MOT test or Pre MOT done to find out what needs doing where without crawling all aound and underneath it.

the rear tyres (that were on the front) do need replacing now i've looked at them properley. once they were changed to the back the wobble did decrease but not go away. I will have to get new tyres and once balanced put them back on the front and see how it goes. Thats the weekend taken up then.
