.

home from billing now after driving home with no power steering.. with only 10 miles to billing lost all my fluid it came out of the breather pipething at the top of the transfer box taking to people in billing could be the ball thing for the 4x4 if are there any tests to prove this, or is it the tranfer box blown, or the pump
cheers evans

If the fluid comes out of the breather its the presure seal in the tx box, caused usualy by the accumulator not working propely, if the ball goes, the fluid cant get to the breather, if the seal in the tx box goes it can get to the breather
people have fitted new seals into the box i dont think its that didficult, but it cant be that easy either!
If the bulb pressure goes `soft` , the pressure is stored in it to keep the car pressed into 4x4 , if it cant store the fluid the ram in the 4x4 pulses in and out of 4x4, over heating the seal and making the seal burst, the fluid pushing on the seal squirts into the tx box and out of the breather

there are 2 tubes on top of the accumulator, your suposed to be able to join them together, removing the fluid from going to the bulb, this lets you fill the system and drive with pas working in 2wd,

never tried it, dont know if it works!

it sounds like it needs a trip to VTS

Afraid its not as easy as that, you cant buy new ram seals. VTS will try and sell you a locked box which I wouldn't recommend, or the other option is to fit a second hand box which would just be a gamble if you get a good one or not.

I am currently running a stronger ram seal I had engineered up and wanted to put a few more miles on it before selling them but have a read up on the subject and pm me if your interested in one !

VTS are in burton somewere in derbyshire

<a href="http://uk.wrs.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9iby5kderFEn9AAEn9LBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTB2b2gzdDdtBGNvbG8DZQRsA1dTMQRwb3MDMQRzZWMDc3IEdnRpZAM-/SIG=11ltsoslc/EXP=1152568221/**http%3a//www.v-t-s.freeserve.co.uk/" target="_blank">http://uk.wrs.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9iby5kderFEn...reeserve.co.uk/</a>

they dont sell the parts but knoiw everything about fixing the 4x4, they do replacement tx boxs, and locked 4x4 boxs,

there good at fault finding on the 4x4, mine kept switching off last year light came on, it turned out to be a rear sidelight bulb with different brand to the one on the other side!! slightly different resistance

there are new seals available from somewere in europe ?sweeden?finland?, somewere like that! , or the stronger one bodgetastic is working on but it still needs fitting!

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->there are new seals available from somewere in europe ?sweeden?finland?, somewere like that!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Poland. I tried one of these and so did DJ Gav. They both lasted a few weeks unfortinately, which is why I ended up doing my own !!

also, dont drive like that. the power steering pump will fail very soon without fluid and after that it will fall to bits and then your alternator belt will keep falling off etc..
