Remote Central Locking

by slugger_2003 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 10:45 pm

Anyone know where I can buy some kit that allows me to remotely lock my cally? I don't have the original phob or anything like that. Sure I've seen/read something about it somewhere...
Any comments appreciated.

Calibra's never had remote central locking but you can get the kit form Vaux to change that, have a look here

most aftermarket alarm kits have central locking interface triggers. Simply wire into the central locking interface in the drivers footwell and press the button on the remote. I fitted a £50 alarm to mine purely for the central locking, sod the alarm, its cak, but the locking works a treat.

You get what you pay for though..right? £50 alarm will go off randomly and be a pain in the arse where as a remote locking system will just lock the car...

Thanks for the "how to" link. Are there aftermarket one's too? Are these only available from Vauxhall parts places? Not cheaper from places like Unipart? Also, roughly how much are they?
If you don't know the answer to these, could you tell me the members clubcalibra name so that I can send them a PM? I can't see it on the "how to" page...
Thanks,

Matt

I would think most aftermarket alarms would fit, as for the price of the Vaux one sorry cant remember.

Pm BenW as it was his car in the guide.

I did say that £50 would get you a cak alarm, but i didn't say that You silence the alarm or just not bother wiring it to anything likely to make a noise

i got one for the missus car for about 40 euro off an australian ebay listing. connected it up and the alarm just drove me mad cos it didnt work properly so i disconnected the siren and the shock sensor thing and just used the central locking part.

I bought the Toad RK 30 (link below)

Is quite good, but problem with all calibras is that to deadlock and set the alarm the lock has to turn 90 degrees, there is not an alarm that will turn your key around for you.

<a href="http://www.dcp-shop.co.uk/buy-car-accessories/product_info.php?cPath=74_82&products_id=7946" target="_blank">http://www.dcp-shop.co.uk/buy-car-accessor...roducts_id=7946</a>

So the remote kit is good but doesnt deadlock or set alarm, good for quick dash to cashpoint etc. Also closes the windows if you push button twice.

I believe that you can make it deadlock and set the alarm if you put a passenger solenoid or part of the lock onto the drviers side, but it weemed silly to go to such lengths.

To be honest I was quoted £140 for a full clousure cat 1 alarm system, would have been better of getting that and having two alarms!
