i was removing the cylinder head on my calibra turbo, but forgot to disconnect the battery, and the inlet manifold touched the alternator, well i had sparks, and now i have no battery light at all, ive replace the bulb in the clocks, also checked ll the fuses under the dash, has anyone got any idea to why the light might not be working....

sounds like the resister pack on the alternator may have packed up. I dunno if I am correct or not, but doesn't the live for the battery light come from the resister pack? and if its packed up then theres no feed to the light. Sure I had this when my alternator packed up due to a short. I think the alternator comes complete so you may be looking around £85 or so and up from VX depending on which amperage alternator you need.
