You need to plug it in where the plug for the window switches goes. Basically remove the centre console and lift slightly until you see the white bracket with the metal clip above it. If you lift the metal clip it will release the white bracket. Then take the back off the bracket (you'll see what i mean when you get to it). Insert the plug in the correct hole. You'll see where the bracket plugs into where the pins are. I think it's the side closest to the drivers seat. Then just put it all back together. Hope that helps.
P.S. I only found this out coz i watched my mechanic replace the gearstick that i broke! See f*****g things up does work in your favour sometimes. LOL

found the socket where it should go into, but theres no wires on the other side! will the socket be tied up somewhere, checked the loom as much as I can but cant see it anywhere. Obviously the wiring for the display is there, as it gives the instant mpg and the time, but I cant adjust it

Haven't got a clue on that one sorry. When i looked there was just a set of pins that the plugs went onto.

I have the same problem mate - the loom ain't there for the switch.

Some guy on .com had the same issue. He managed to work it all out and said he'd post the results up. I since have not heard from this guy. Maybe he was telling porkies.

I was hoping someone could tell me what wires I need to cut in the back of the computer to make my own loom up.

o.k guys here goes, in pm from another guy on here i got the following wiring details don't know how easy it is cos i ain't tryed it yet  when i get round to it i'll take loads of pics n do it as a tech guide.

If you find you car does not have the correct under carpet loom which the switch plugs into you will have to connect the wires to the large plug in the passenger footwell.
Pins No's

14 brown/black minutes adjust (right pentip switch)
27 brown/yellow common
28 brown/white reset (rear raised switch)
41 brown/blue hours adjust (left pentip switch)
42 brown/red function (front switch)

Remove the cover ontop of the connector which should expose wires you need to get to.

the pm i got added. The instructions are from Cavweb and I found there is a slight difference in the wiring at the plug in the passenger footwell to the diagram. I found that pins 14 and 28 needed swapping round. If you check the colours out before snipping you'll not go far wrong!, hope this clears this up for everyone
