Electric Window (Driver's Side) - Intermittently Working

Hey,

I have a dodgy front electric window on the driver’s side. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t! I have tested the switch and this appears to work, I have pulled out the connector in the regulator/motor (? - in the door "north east" of the big speaker) and pushed it back in to make sure it wasn’t a loose connection here. The only thing i can put it down to is the motor has gone, but why would this make it intermittent? Sure it would either work or it wouldn’t! Admittedly it hasn’t worked for a while now and I can't hear the motor trying to work when the window won’t wind down. I thought about the fuse (un-checked) but this would stop it completely surely? Could it possibly be that the motor has gone?

Has anyone else had their motor go, is it common, does it cost much to replace?

The other option I thought about was making the drivers side manual rather than electric? Can this be done? Were Calibras ever available with windy windows? it looks as though there is something for a handle to go into under the door card and on the back of the door card is a circle where you would image the winder to go!

Cheers

Hello
sounds like it could be a broken wire. Its probably broken in the harness between the door and the car itself. Try testing for power at the connector that joins on the front edge of the door, and check behind the kick panel inside.

Had the exact same problem on mine.
It was intermittent so I was sure it couldn't be the motor, but after about 3 weeks of trying everything else I bit the bullet and brought a motor from the scrappy for £15....it's been fine ever since.
Although it's riveted in it's not to bad to change.Just take the glass out, drill out the rivets, swap the old assembly for the new one,get someone to hold the new one in place while you rivet it, refit the glass.
