Rear Hub Dismantalling problem

by Westy » Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:36 pm

How do I get the backing disc of the rear hub, by backing disc I mean the 340mm dia plate that the inboard shoes are held on to, mine has corroded. I have 4 bolts with an internal splinded head that wont shift. I have used WD40 and an imapct wrench.

P.S. What happened to my old thread?

I can't really remember, i think its those bolts tho, so you'll ahve to soak them for a few days with Wd40 or something, or get some heat (oxy) on it if its not too near the bearing.

PS breaker bar will give more torque than average impact wrench, so try that instead with short as possible socket.

Do yourself a favour mate. Leave em on. Paint them with KURUST and let them go black then paint with black Finnigans. If you look how its all configured you'll see that you cant take the backing plate off wothout dismantling the hub...and thats MEGA probs!!
