boot and under bonnet lights

neither the under bonnet light, the boot light work on my cally, ive put new bulbs in, checked with a multi meter and there is no voltage on the wires, do these bits have a common circuit, is there a fuse somewhere other than in the fuse box, is there a common fault that makes them both stop working. the only fuse shown in the haynes book seems to be fuse 9, which ive tested and is ok.

Hey I know they're not related - i.e. one goes they both go, cos my boot is fine, but my under bonnet light has never worked for me!

And now my glovebox light doesn't work! Can't really help. I know that the bonnet light only comes on with the headlights - i.e. it doen't work off the contact switch like the boot. So when your lights are on the under bonnet light is also on bonnet up or down!

Ill try the bonnet one with the lights on!, i think its best just to run new wires as i cant find anthing wrong with the boot one, just no power in the wires.

i know that my glovebox light doesn't work but i'm sure my boot does i'll have to check my bonnet one though.

for the boot, check the plunger switch, left of tail gate, they tend to have bad earths

Ummmm.........does have a turbo have an underbonnet light? Never seen one on mine, where is it (under the bonnet!) ?

My turbo hasnt got one but my xe has one, i know another 3 callys localy and none have the light under the bonnet, or the plastic under engine shield, mine has both the light and the shield, the light is on the right hand side and is the same size as the one in the boot, the hole is there for it on my turbo one but i can only see it because i took the black bonnet carpet out to keep it a bit cooler., still cant get the boot light working though, the bonnet one just needed the lights turned on!

Your bonnet one works??! Where does it connect to? I guessed mine, but it doesn't work!

What do you mean by plastic under engine shield? - I think if it's the plate under the entire engine, it's a 16v thing.

The light under the bonnet seemed to be part of an option pack with the headlamp washers, heated washer jets and the lamp. Plus one other thing I think, but can't remember??!!

it connects with a single grey/green wire that comes out of the loom at the fan under the pollen filter, a single spade connector, it earths to the bonnet., just doesnt come on until you put the headlights on!

my boot and glove lights work but not my bonnet one (saying that it aint even connected
