OMP front strut brace to a Calibra Turbo
Assuming thats ally like it looks (could be stainless potentially i guess)
Thats a purely cosmetic mod, it will do almost nothing for rigidity.
If you took that off and rested one strut top on the ground and leant on the other, you would visibly see it bend.
ally with bends in like that just doesnt have enough strength.

What is the point in having a strutbrace? Unless the connect the top mounts they cant do alot. I have heard that there is chassis flex but they dont seem to be attached to the chassis at all.

That is what i got in the picture Animal has posted now how the hell are you ment to fit that without drill into to top mounts??? I just dont think it can be done. I removed the leg today to look and the is no room to nut and bolt it anywhere on the inside of the turret once the strut is back in place!
I think this omp strut is ****e to behonest.

They are all a monocoque design. The strut tops/turrets ARE part of the monocoque which carries all the stress.

i got one of them omp ones the same as yours, ive been trying to sell the damn thing for ages,i got it two years ago from demon twats i was gonna fit it but as you say it dont seem to look right, they give you some self tapping bolts in the fitting kit but no destruction manual on where to fit the thing,am gonna cut me losses and get a sparco polished one..the omp is nasty and the only thing id use it for is to give the local chav t.w.o.c squad a good hiding with...

So no one has mentioned that it's pointless fitting one if you aren't going to drive the car hard enough to warranty it, let alone feel the difference on the road. I'm fitting Front upper, Front Lower and rear upper strut braces to my Golf Mk2 GTi, however that's being used as a track car so warrants the fitment of such items. It's a waste of time on a road car and purely a cosmetic mod in my opinion.
