Hiya MJ,
To pass his/her mot they lowered the windows down, This as far as mot requirements made the "door open/close properly" or what that actual test is called a pass as the hand can unclick and open the door from it's internal/interior opening lever
This is something i've read or glanced over while looking into de-locking a cabby i have i really can't remember
Maybe the installers monday can give me a view on this as they do all kinds of mot's also (cars/vans and i think somewhere they have a hgv or whatever class mot place)
Are there any production top range cars that use a pop system ??
I am new to all this glitz and gizmo side of vehicles so trying to learn as i go lol
Cheers

I wasnt particularly meaning a getting out issue as there are numerous posibilitys for that if your able to, its more an issue of fire brigade/paramedic etc getting in were you to have lost conciousness and be in flames (for example) I think some cars, some lambourghini (from memory) have a 'hidden' solenoid button under the mirror to pop the door, I dunno, maybe ive just got all responsible in my old age lol

Hiya,
Well this is what i got from a reply by if i remember rightly is a tester himself .........
The Mot states
Doors
This inspection does not apply if no drivers or front passenger's doors were fitted as part of the original design of the vehicle.
A lack of door handles because of original design characteristics or specialist modification is not a reason for rejection provided the door can be latched securely in the dosed position.
Method of inspection
Open and close the drivers and passengers' doors. Check that each latches securely in the closed position. Check also that front doors can be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle.
Reasons for rejection
a. A driver's or any passengers door does not latch securely in the closed position
b. a driver's or front passenger's door cannot be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle from the relevant control in each case.
Note: Reason for rejection 1 b does not apply to:
. goods vehicles modified for the carriage of high value cargoes such as armoured security vehicles
. front passenger doors if the door aperture has been permanently 'filled' as part of a specialised customisation provided that there are no obvious aperture gaps.
So if it can be opened electronically and is secure when shut then it should pass
He he, No handles/lock here i come
Have Fun

yep I agree ..... and as far as the security aspect goes, ive never seen a calibra or cav thats been broken into through the door lock/handle (remember these are deadlocks so even with the whole handle popped in/out it'd still be locked?) they tend .... in my experience at least .... to get broken into thru the boot or by smashing a window.

Hiya's,
Yeah i guess most cars are passengerside window jobs (my valver theft attempt was anyways)
But for the average single brain-celled twit that may think of having a go seeing no lock or handle to jimmy may deter them somewhat
But i am looking at no handles with another kind of perspective .............
The handles on mine are worn and the lock cover hole thing is pretty tore up, So instead of having the hastle to fit veccy ones i can weld decent so could do away with the whole gubbins and have a sleak door
I'm sure sooner or later the hooded chav teenagers by me would try screw-drivering the locks out of pure imcompitence
Anyways i will check tomorrow and if need be i can always get it mot'ed at place that's fitting them
Cheers

Hiya,
Yeah i meant sunroof (seems sluggish so may have to take out and check etc) .........................
Well today i had to laugh (well i almost wet myself laughing, Chuckling now thinking about it)
The cally is under a dutch barn my gte cabby is out in the open and another gte valver is on blocks, Well i heard the proximity going off doing it's chirping lol, Looked over and the dog hadn't seen where i was and had automatically gone front paws first onto side of cally to see if i was in it, Well of course the chirps started and she didn't know wtf it was, Looking over she goes round other side and does the same and chirps start again, lmao by now she's cocking her head side to side trying to figure why this metallic object is making weird noises as she goes from one side to another
Man ohh man was it funny to watch
She eventually heard me laughing and came running over and then kept looking back at the cally lmao really funny
