The most embarrassing car alarm ever!!

by Legacey » Sun Jan 21, 2007 2:41 pm

There was a Toad alarm fitted to my calibra when I got it but it is so annoying. When you lock the car it says "system armed" and when you unlock it it says "alarm de-activated". The worst bit is when people walk past it, it shouts out "security, please step away!"
Can this be turned off without it affecting the alarm?

Anyone please help!!!!

Could always sack the little man in it or gag him.
I remember seeing a BMW in South Africa that shot flames out the side if it was tampered with. Imagine if that was to go off every time someone walked pass

Pretty sure it can be turned off,
do you know what model of toad you have Ai606 for example?
Should be able to help you out a bit further then.
Mr Toad would be the bloke to PM, if he's still abround these days.

Sorry I don't know what type the alarm is. Didn't get any sort of paperwork with the car. I had a look on the internet to see if the remote control pad would point me in the right direction but they all seem to be the same no matter what model it is.

So I try to walk as far away from the car as possible before I lock it so that when people look around they don't think it's my car!

Hehehe

Are there any stickers on the car that may point to the model? Or maybe a serial on the keyfob?

I'm pretty sure models like that allow you to change it to a tone rather than voice, can't remember if they are programmed from the keyfob or not. Toad should be able to help though, call or email them.

Just a sticker in the back window to say that the car is secured with Toad. Nothing on the key fob.

I'll give them a ring as I've sent an email before but didn't get a reply.

Thanks

Same key fobs as these: http://www.carculture.co.uk/toad09.jpg

Picture says Ai606 but not sure if they use the same key fobs for alot of their alarms.

Yep looks the same as my ai606 and i think your right they do seem to use the same fob.
Will dig out the manual and see if i can help,
IIRC you can do a slient arm/disarm by pressing button 3 before the main arm/disarm button.( for use in early mornings etc)
3 being the small green button as large green to arm and 2 large black to disarm

Iv heard that alarm before, wasn't a toad tho was a crappy no name brand.

And it could be programmed to just beep instead of talk, lol...
