Renewing Suspension Components

by icewizard » Wed Feb 21, 2007 6:36 pm

I wan't to sort out most of the suspension and get the car handling good again.

I'm gonna get the following:

Koni Adjustables
Ebach -25mm Springs
2 Front Wishbones
2 Antiroll Bar End Links
2 Track Rod Ends
2 Rear Beam Doughnut Bushes

Anything else that I would need to buy that's really needed?

I'm thinking the ebach -25mm springs won't hopfully be much lower than the 10 year old saggy springs that are on it right now. Is this normally the case?

Any advice??

Thanks

I don't really post anymore, but you're worth it

It looks like you have everything covered there. Make sure the new wishbones have new balljoints on them.

Inspect the topmounts and bump stops when you swap them over. Look for cracks in the metal topmounts, and check the torque on the x2 big nuts each side when you do them up again.

You could do the front wheel bearings while you are at it (£10 each), I would just for peace of mind. All in all, you are doing the right thing! Too many people don't realise that lowering a car is pointless if the wishbone bushes are worn, ARB links are snapped etc...

Great stuff, you'll feel the difference.

Thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward to getting it done now.

Are wheel bearings easy to replace, I don't have press or anything like that.

The wishbones are going to be from autovaux, I assume they come with ball joint.

Just one last question, what do you mean here.

I've also got the two top bearing races as well.

The wheel bearings will need to be pressed out/in, most garages would do it for £20 if you take the two legs in with the new bearings.
