Hi i have 1998 se8 16v 2 ltr but i cant read the fault codes using paper clip like i could on my 1993 red top anybody know if there is another way without going to dealer? cheers jeff

are you sure? i have a late 1996, but can still read the ecu codes. it's just the 4x4 codes i cant read with a paperclip.

The x20xev has other codes than your old cali from 1993. It has no Motronic from Bosch but a Simtec 5.1 from Siemens. There are other codes. I´ve got a pdf-file including these codes. But it is in german. No idea if it could help you.

thanks guys i tried again and it worked ive got the simtec 56.5 system with 4 figure fault codes all info on the link from robbie to www. top buzz.co.uk also i found out that if there is no fault then the light does not flash which explains why i thought it didn't work last time i tried it. i need new mass flow air sensor cheers jeff

got new air sensor off ebay only done 500 miles problem now solved thanks guys jeff
