Crap handling doing my head in
My calibra was suffering from some bad handling issues, pulling all over the road and knocking, found a snapped arb link so changed it and within 10 miles it snapped again, traced it to buggered wishbone bushes, so 2 new wishbones and arb links and it was better, but still had a knocking noise and was still pulling about, so I gave the front a complete overhaul, new wheel bearings disks and pads, changed the springs to 25mm lowering springs from the 40mm ones that were on and checked all suspension components for wear (shocks and top mounts) and changed the track rod ends
Again, its slightly better but still wandering all over the road and still knocks when going round corners if the road is bumpy
I've checked all the bolts on the front end are tight and everything on the front is new apart from driveshafts which seemed nice and tight so what could be causing it?
A mate told me that if one of the engine/gearbox monuts is knackard it can cause this, I have checked the drivers side mount when I changed the alternator/pas belt but haven't checked the other 2, is it right what he said and how much should I expect to pay for a set of new mounts (either from vauxhall or local motorfactors) for a 1993 redtop?
The way things are going I'm gonna end up with essentially a new car and it's costing a fortune!
Thanks,
Rob

If it was me i would start with a four wheel alignment , caster ,camber and toe in check that pretty much any garage (ATS/KWIKFIT)can check for you, have you had the car checked on a jig or even looked yourself for signs of damage and repair, has the car had a HPI check.
You seem to be doing the correct part and checking suspension etc And i would guess to get it checked by a vauxhall dealership/ courtney/ regal would coat a fortune aswell but may be the way to check its set correctly to factory settings.
That's where i would start anyway.
Hope you get to the bottom of it soon

I'll take it to kwikfit when I get chance, bit awkward with work but I might be able to blag an hour off! I know that might be why it pulls about but it still doesn't explain the knocking, it looks like it's had a very slight bump at the rear but nothing's bent except a slight ding in the metal frame under the bumper and theres nothing on a hpi
Thanks for your reply
