Caliper Guide Bolts

by Fostersice17 » Fri Apr 13, 2007 9:11 am

Hi people, gonna do my front brakes at the weekend, done the rears before but not the front, reading the "trusty" haynes manuel is states that the caliper guide bolts have gotta be torqued up,anyone know the torque setting? Or can that just be tightened up?

Just spoke to my mechanic who says just overhand tight will be ok,dont bother with the torque, saying that the last time i had my kam cover off i thought id actually use the specified torque for a change, never had before, and i found it was way to tight, either that or my torque wrench was playing up :frown:

True,i guess its just a case of not overtightning, like i said before i did not trust the torque setting for the kam cover,if i would have used the correct setting imo i would have cracked the cover.

i always use a torque wrench if theres a value listed, never had a problem, and brakes are certainly sommit id use it for

Must admit, I didn't use a torque wrench on my guide bolts, just used common sense on the tightness.
