Battery Drain max mA rating...

by MarkV6 » Thu May 31, 2007 10:08 pm

Went to swop cars over tonight to get the six ready for PVS, turned the key in the ign, and, click nothing.....

Disconnected the neg batt lead and checked for a current drain. Reading of 67mA. IIRC this is within allowed tolerance.....

Just trying to see if flat battery is due to lack of use (hopefully)

Now just got Saturday to sort the car before PVS...... starting to panic a bit....

My battery died ater after a weeek of non use, recharged and all working fine now.

Must be a thing with V6's as this is not the first time it's happen to me.

Well charging the battery today at work so should be ok for the weekend. (same battery as VW Sharan diesels  which only just fits the calibra battery tray :icon_mrgr )

Also 'found' a mahooosive 640 CCA (cold crank amp) 80Ah battery which is an inch and a half longer, so will charge that as well, sling it in the boot and bring with a set of jump leads. Just in case.....

Mine goes totally flat after a week of non use.

Once a lead/acid battery has gone through a deep discharge (down to below 30% of full capacity) it will be irreparably damaged and will no longer hold a decent charge.

£30 gets you a new battery and then remember to disconnect it if not using it for a few days.
