Smoking Brakes

i fitted drilled and grooved brake discs to my cally last week and some mintex pads.
iv never had drilled and grooved discs before is it normal for them to be smoking after i have bin driving?

It am be just the surface coat being bunt off or you've been driving to hard.

been driving hard but never had smoking brakes before. i thought my brakes were on fire at one point LOL

i had this problem on one of my old novas ,turned out it was a seized caliper
and like you said at one point it was nearly a fire ..

I would of thought you would have to bed your brake disc and pads in before driving hard etc.
Becareful you don't damage your discs etc
But like Mark said could just be the surface coat burning off.

Yes you should bed them in for a couple of hunderd miles before giving them some stick.

i had exactly the same on my old calibra. i only noticed i had a seazed on calipper one night when i only went for a 5 min drive and the disc was glowing red and the wheel was so hot i couldnt even touch it.
