Coil into the bonnet??
Just had a new front coil fitted..was driving along over speed bumps and my bonnet started to move up after every friggin speed bump..lifted the bonnet up and the top of the coil or suspension had snapped and pushed its way up into the bonnet!!funniest of all was the Bloke (not garage) said that its nothing to do with his work! Which im not too sure about! Is there a replacement part for this or is it a welding job? Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rich

Yep, it'll be the top mount rubber, whoever fitted the strut should have noticed it was in poor condition (and informed you), but i guess not technically a fault with their work... You'll need to replace both front rubber mounts, cost about £50 in parts (from autovaux), but both struts need to be removed to fit them. See posts here:

<!--QuoteBegin-icewizard+--><div class='quotetop'>(icewizard)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->This must be a lot more common than I thought.
As said it is fixable by using new parts, I hope your bonnet is not damaged.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yep, have to do mine this week.

yeh i might take it back, ill consider my options cos i don't know if i'll get anywhere with the people who intially fitted the coil! Theres some bad damage though as you can where the metal has just torn apart. Here's a better pic of the damage on this link:- <a href="http://www.clubcalibra.com/index.php?topic=7750.0" target="_blank">http://www.clubcalibra.com/index.php?topic=7750.0</a>

From that last pic it looks like the top mounts have failed. This I think is very common although not many experience the complete failure you have seen.
New top mounts can be had from autovaux for about £15 each side. Also a very good idea to change the upper spring seat and bearing race on each side too as these deform quite badly also due to fatigue.
To be honest I'm supprised the garage did not spot that these parts were worn, I'm not in the least a machanic but I was shocked at what I saw when I disasembled mine and yours are/was obviously much worse.
Either way I hope you get things sorted out without too much damage.

this is why i suggest perhaps it was assembled incorrectly as it would have been fairly obvious if it was that close to failure.
