Which is which?

Any electrical issues

Ok guys. Got a possible problem with my aircon relay ie it isn't there. It is located behind the fuse panel. Can't get at it as it's too dam difficult and tight. Managed to feel around and there is a relay missing that
according to v6calibra has something to do with the aircon? Anyhow, noticed that the relays come in various colours? My question is does anyone know what colour equates to what and do they know what colour the missing relay could be?

Well, it's nice to see that all you guys out there couldn't help. Seems it's getting more and more like this everyday. V disappointing indeed. I know I've not offered much in return but believe me if I could help someone out with something then I would. Can't believe there's no one out there that can't help in this small puzzle?

Well not every one has aircon so that would rule out a good few people, and If people don't know the answer then I guess they would not bother with a reply

there again having the title "which is which" is a wee bit vague as to what the problem is ...so People would not look unless they just wanted to see what your on about....perhaps a better title would help eh??

anyway...I always thought the relay for the aircon components are located in the fuse box of the engine bay

but not having aircon I don't relay know just what TIS tells me ..I think its the green one in this picture...but it is a Guess

I do understand didn't want to make it look as though I was making and song and dance about it. Just that my aircon prob has been going on so long that it's getting a wee bit tiresome. For fraz, yes I thought so too until I got hold of the download on the v6calibra website which showed more relays situated behind the dash fuse box. On my other thread I put a description of the relays and their location as per the website but still got no where fast. My problem at the moment is not only trying to find out the correct relay but trying to get the relay holder out from where it is to have a good look at it. Maybe by doing this I can make a quick identification? I think the relays also have a different pin fitting as per the colour, not 100% sure on this but it sure looks that way? If you take a look at "Help needed, V6 relay location!", which is the thread I started first it shows the diagram of the particular relay and also the description and how far I had got before I posted this thread

pull the relays off the relay holder, they slide off still on the wires, and pull through by the pedles ,i never put mine back on either, just stuffed them back up, far easier to chage and see them
no ideal which is the aircon though, id get a full set from a scrappy for under there from a cally of the same year and just chage them all, sell the spares on ebay

well I have had them fuses and relays out before..you need to remove the fuse box and the bottom dash trim and ithe carrier is held in place by a few screws (or bolts ..been a while)

there is only a few relays there and most are for things like heated mirrors and the alarm system

Its not exactly easy..but can be done

and just checked EPC and there is only two relays listed for the V6

if yours is later than chassis number M10000001 then its 3447012...and if you look at the green relay ....thats the part number on it

I presume you don't have this green relay????

I think that the one listed for behind the fuse box is for different countries and Early V6's

Location 3 on the relay guide points to a relay numbered k90? Don't know what colour it should be but there is defo a relay missing and it's mighty strange that my aircon doesn't work and this relay points towards the prob? As per my other thread it says compressor k90 except model B5?

Will try and get in amongst the relays over the weekend and see if I can get one to go in the blank space. I managed to get hold of a whole selection of relays from a V6 so hopefully one will fit? Was told my original prob was maybe down to a bad earth. Traced every wire and there was no breaks or probs that I could find. So lets hope it's this relay or I'm well and trully stumped!

See what you mean, wasn't clear on the page that I printed off. Have a print out which I obtained from v6calibra.com, although it's now changed to .net? and in the list of fuses and relays (based on late '96 - '98 spec with aircon) it states that there are two relays k60 & k90 located behind fuse box both have something to do with aircon compressor? Bit puzzled by this as you quite rightly noted that in your posted pic it states k90 not calibra? So different sites and different pics quote different things? Oh and yes have the green relay under the bonnet, will change it to see if there's any difference?
