Hi there guys,

Got a 16v redtop. Just had lowered shocks and springs fitted along with 2 new wishbones and cv joints. Just recently noticed i get a creaking sound then one knock occasionally when moving steering right and left and also when moving of slowly.

Any ides what this could be??

Seems to be coming from only the driver side under neath the car on near the alloy somewhere. The sound isnt there all the time is magically dissapears sometimes but its really annoying when it comes back.

Check your wishbone bolts are all tight. Then check the subframe bolts (18 and 16mm).

It'll only take 2 mins on a ramp. Bring a big breaker bar.

other things you might wanna check are the ball joints, antiroll bar links, and tie rod ends...

The shocks and springs are both brand new. One of the anti roll bar link was broken so got two of them replaced, but knocking is still there.

Could it has something to do with the drive shaft as its got a bit more pressure on it from lowering???

Track rod ends and ball joints have been checked and they are fine.

Its all still a puzzle for me.

ive had a annoying creaking noise over the last few mths , igot underneath the front of the car and rocked it backwards and forwards and found the noise was coming from the rear rubbers of the wishbone , so mr wd40 came in very handy and now theres no noise

I had the very same problem with my 20XE. Replaced the N/S wishbone and track rod end(tie rod end if you prefer) and it sorted the job. According to the Vauxhall TIS2000 software its a siezed track rod end, resulting in a slight knock when manuvering at low speeds or driving over differing terrain. Its worth replacing even if the originals seem in good order (as did mine), at under a tenner you can go wrong!
