What have I done wrong?

Any issues relating to suspension, steering and brakes.

Just changed the front shocks and springs on my cally, put it all back together but I noticed the other day when i was looking in the engine compartment that the tope mounts aren't sitting flush witht the turrets? why would this be, Ive followed the haynes and ive refitted it all correct but it seems like the new nut they supplyed with the shocks is too big that it doesnt allow the top mount to sit flush, however when compared to the old nut they are the same or near enough??? its got me all confused?

Should that nut be there between the top mount? I swear there was one there when we took it apart, thing is theres no noises when cornering and it feel ok to drive... although it concerns me still...

No that's wrong, there shouldn't be a nut between the rubber mount and the strut top, the new nut is a replacement for the top nut :)

but i thought the nut between is holding the spring in place... MY mate put the strut all back together so i missed what he did... I thought it looked strange... WIll I be able to take the nut off with out taking it all apart? and having to compress the springs... LOL

Prahaps there is suppose to be a nut there just can't remember off hand !

But the gap is too large and if there is a nut then that's the wrong one there.

It looks like the bottom nut is too big it should be a thinner one

SO will I be able to change the nuts over with out having to take the suspension apart, will the weight of the car keep the spring compressed enough for me to undo and swap over?

The only thing you will have to be carefull about is that the shock itself does not move down. Take the top nut off then loosen the bottom one alittle at a time. Hold the shock from underneath with your hand dont use anything like molegrips or pliers or you will damged the shock. Keep losening the nut until it can be done by hand. If it does not come loose you may have to use spring clamps. hope this helps

Shouldn't that rubber disk be turned over and fitted inside the arch, eliminating the lower bolt?
