Tips - removing rear driveshaft to replace cv gator
Has anyone got ant tips on replacing a rear cv gator an a 4x4, how do i remove or preferably part the shfat from the cv joint so i can slip on the new gator.
any tips would be handy as i dont want to dismantle more than i need to.

The knuckle of the joint that goes into the hub comes off seperatly to the drive shaft.
There should be a circlip inside the joint,but it's hard to spot.
Just take the old boot off and look in the joint where the bearings are.
(Thats assuming there the same kind of setup as the front ones.)
Or you could allways use a split boot.there about £5 and you just glue them together,so no need to strip anything down...

Cheers truxx, i will look into a split boot but i wonder how long it would last.
i dont want to remove the cv joint from the diff so im wanting to remove the shaft from the back of the hub, on the back of the hub there is a plate with 4 bolts and the shaft goes through do i need to undo these bolts?
