Anyone know how to recode the Vaux System 90 keyfobs?

by Leigh » Thu Feb 14, 2008 8:12 pm

Does anyone have the info on how to recode the Vaux system 90 fobs (later Green LED code hopping versions..).
Mine has packed up, and tho I have 3 spares , none are coded to the control box (long story involving replacement control box & fobs several years ago trying to eliminate a odd problem after it was fitted). I believe it's possible to put them into 'learn' mode by a bit of soldering/wiring, but don't know how or the procedure to follow etc.

I've tried the phone number for Liteon Automotive UK but it's not a valid number anymore. Don't know if alarmbod is around anymore either as he doesn't work for them anymore, and neither does the last guy (his boss/ex-boss) I spoke to close to Xmas 2006, when I tried to email the contact address I got a Out of Office AutoReply saying "Unfortunately I no longer work for Liteon Automotive Electronics and this email address is not being monitored. Please re-send emails to warren.schofield@liteon-auto.co.uk should you require a response from the company."
It sounds to me like they have closed the UK office!!

I've tried that one but had no response as yet (tho no failure message either).

Vauxhall are no use, they don't even have the kit available so I can't buy a whole new set and swap the control box over, and a couple of local alarm places I've phoned just went "never heard of that system before".

If anyone else out there with the system90 fitted has any useful contact info, or has had remotes fixed recently I'd love to hear about it, I think there are quite a few of us that fitted it, and one day those remotes will fail...

I've also emailed Liteon Automotive's europe contact email , and will try to ring them tommorow (they are in Holland according to their website - Liteon Auto Europe )

At the moment I can't disarm the alarm, so tho I can start it and drive, the alarm sounds most of the time, flashing indicators etc, not exactly wanting to explain to the police everytime I go out, plus as I can't open the doors, I have to climb in the boot, then when getting out climb out of the window then back in the boot to close window! (I think you can remove part of the rear trim to reach the boot release? but not had a look yet)

HELP !!

Hi Fraz,
does that work with the system90 ? I thought that was for the more modern systems fitted as standard?
I know years ago when I got a replacement control box and fobs (seperately over a few weeks as we elminated the source of a problem) that they helpline guy said they need setting (there is a 6 digit code printed on a sticker on the remote, and inside the case when you open it that is also printed on the control box.
I've still got another control box that I removed last year as it was starting to have problems unlocking, along with it's 2 matched fobs, so I guess I could try putting that back in temporary just to see if I can disarm it at all. but the control box was pretty shot when I removed it, I had to start the car (and set the alarm off) before I could disarm !

No mate, looks like this one:

Green LED (earlier ones were Red, apparently the later green ones are code hopping as well).

Just had a read of the installation instructions for the System 90 (green led) and there is nothing in there about recoding the remote. only thing i can think of is to pm Alarmbod.

Evening RobbieV,
I dunno if Alarmbod comes on the board anymore, it says "Never" for last visit on his profile, I thought I had his external/home email address but can't find it, shame cos he was a bloody good bloke, really helpful, .

Quick update, phoned the Holland office this morning and the guy I spoke with said he's got a colleague in the UK at the moment so he's supposed to be calling me.
He did briefly say he'd had a query about on of these remotes yesterday (specifically mentioned the Green LED ) and had managed to get something sorted, but then later on said we might struggle.
I asked him about putting them into learn mode but he seemed to think it was only possible on the Red LED versions, so not sure if it's right or not (I'm 99% sure that alarmbod told me they can be put in learn mode by some fine soldering).

The guy on the phone did confirm that they had closed the UK office, and asked if Vauxhall had helped, to which I told him that they didn't even list the kit anymore and didn't know about spares/repairs etc.

Waiting for a call back now, if I don't hear anything by this afternoon I'll try and chase them up.

:(
Had another chat with the guy, plus a couple of emails, his colleague is on a day off over here (wedding..) but he said he should be in touch on monday.
The guy I was speaking to deals mainly with cruise control systems but he did try to find some info, but no luck, only a wiring diagram for a VS500 alarm that he thought might be the right one.
I ended up sending him a link to the how-to fitting guide on here to try and help him identify it, but no more luck so far, have to wait until he's passed it onto the other guy.

I've used my Uniden scanner with it's 'closecall' feature and when I press the button on the faulty remote, although the LED doesn't light, it IS transmitting something as the scanner picks up a tranmission on 434.000 Mhz, whereas the 3 spares I've got don't trigger the scanner. Odd..

Ended up removing the system yesterday afternoon/evening :(
It feels so odd not having remote locking now, and I haven't even been out in it yet!
What's the bets that the support guy will phone me today and tell me some really simple way to code the fob now that I've taken the whole thing out...

If I do get any useful info I'll post it up here for any other system90 users.
