blutac and sellotape, that'll sort it.

nah seriously though bud i can understand why they told you the valves were bent without taking the head off, that must have made an awful noise.

still, it WILL live again

NO SELLING IT TO JON!!!!

i guess i'll see you on saterday to start cleaning the engine bay (oh and you can fit my intercooler whilst i'm doing it.

I'm glad the pistons/head is ok as we suspected, but I'm shocked to see how little damage is considering the heads have come off, that must have happened on starter cranking, theres no way that fired up and did it. makes the rubber theory less believable really and the didnt bother to check it by hand first theory more likely imo. :(

surely if the garage done the timing they have to repair the damage to the same spec that you built it to

i'm not sure if they got that far .... the trouble is, no one knows what exactly happened as steve was not there .... unfortunately even if the did wrong how do you put the blame to them if you have done other work to get that far. steve i guess has a difficult desision to make as he knows the tuners have a good rep.

As Rich says, I was not there so i'll never know exactly what happened. Im also far to busy to have a long drawn out battle with someone argueing who is at fault as that wont get my engine rebuilt any time soon. Even if they accept the responsibility they would only offer to rebuild it and although a very repitable company im hardly going to let them touch it again

it can be the 6 million dollar cally, we will rebuild him, better, faster and stronger than before.

i must admit steve, it looks worse than i thought it would be although not as bad as it could have been, what are we now looking at? just new valve guides and valves? and NON adjustable cams lol

Re-rebuild update

Head is now back together with 16 new valves, pretty picture of the valves that came out.....

Image

Have all the other parts now except something on order from the states which should be done by the end of the month so should be up and running by christmas. Ive ditched the self tensioner on the cambelt for a locked pulley which should give me a bit more security once back on the road, other than that its going back together as before.

Shi* mate i didnt know you had done this..
Ohh crap.
This is why we took my pistons down 1 mm.. as when we looked at it we thought they was to high out the block.
I hope you get this sorted mate.
I get blown by Twins everyday !!!!

The old skyline gtr felt exciting even when it was in a car wash !!!!! :)

Litterally "wasted" stem valves :( thankfully relatively little damage for this sort of problem.

Has it occured to you that as the engine builder he should have checked the clearances to make sure that when the timing was correctly set the valves and pistons didnt touch?

Now im NOT saying thats what happened, im just saying you might want to consider it before accusing anyone.
