Turbo LE paint...

by complaints69 » Wed Apr 01, 2009 11:22 am

Hey guys & gals,

I need to know what the colour was called. I think it is Diamond Black, or is it Vauxhall Black???

I am going to sort some rust on my passenger door next week and the air-ass-holes in halfrauds do not have the paint codes on them, just paint names.

Check your paint code on the slam panel with the list i posted earlier.

If its not on the list then it could be Soild Black E200/80L.

yes, my plate say's e200. The cans in halfrauds do not have paint codes on them, just names.

A while ago i purchased a stone chip repair kit from them and that was called vauxhall black and it looked ok on stone chips. I would like to be sure 100% that this is the right colour as i will be spraying the lower part of the passenger door and i want it to match!

Hi

I met you around 2 years ago at Kent Modified. How is your Le. I still have mine and had it fully rebuilt by Courtenay. ALso had a 9litre intercooler fitted in the end. I am getting rust spots below my door, i must sort this out soon. I had it done, but they come back as water sits in there I guess. Is this your problem. Its not to bad but will sort it anyway soon. I remember the code being E200 as mine is an LE also so will be the same paint code.

Interesting. Went into vauxhall before pvs to get some paint to 'touch up' the bonnet . Armed with my reg plate and vin number they still managed to order some rustic brown colour  couldnt then find the right colour on the system and gave up.

My vin plate states colour code E200 but that meant nothing to them so if anyone could clear it up would be helpful for future reference

Definately E200 for LE's and SE5's. It's just solid black paint, no 'flecks' or sparkles etc in it.

I'm sure I had a small touchup pot made up at my local Halfrauds years ago and the guy had no problems, maybe it's been removed from their database or something weird like that.
Diamond black will stick out like a sore thumb against solid black, I know from experience with a mates SE5 years ago trying to touch up some stonechips and scratches - it looks almost grey in comparison with the sparkles etc)

I've had a few cans of the genuine Vauxhall spray over the years from Autovaux (did delocked door handles until the bloomin Vauxhall system 90 packed up and I had to remove them..), seen them on ebay fairly reasonable price also.

My ten pence! Go into Halfords and "hopefully" they will have a "custom paint mixing scheme". ( normally at the parts desk ).

They can make you up whats called a "professional aerosol" these have a better Nozzle on them and you get a better "fan" from the can, than the normal cans.
They can be a bit dearer but the paint match is normally excellent.

If youre still worried take the car too them and ask them to come and colour match it.

If you get really cross etc , pm me. ill help as much as poss.

I got mine from my local car factors called Beaver Batteries. It was carplan paint i am sure, they cross referenced it against the e200 code and produced the can within 30 seconds. if you sprayed some in to the lid or something and then use a small brush or coctail stick to fill your chips or whatever.
