Help needed!! Headunit and system cuts out when playing loud

Hi everyone,

Now I got a pretty mad system and tried figuring out what is making my headunit cut out and then restart 5 secs later.

my setup:

Kenwood kvc524 dvd headunit9
infinity door components all round (running of headunit)
2 x kicker 15" L7's
Hinfonics brutus 2407d to power both subs.
5 farad power cap
yellow top battery with split charge.

The problem:

I can pump this sound system, but sometimes the headunit cuts out and restarts it self when hitting really hard bass notes. Dont really know if it is the headunit or amp or something else. when it restarts it will keep restating unless i turn it slightly lower.

What do you lot think it could be??

One thing i saw is that the preout on the headunit is only a 2v sub pre out. Does this make a difference??

Im a bit of a sound system fanatic and can't figure this one out lo. need all help i can get because it gets on my nerve having such a good setup spending loads of money and then it goes and cuts out!!

sound's like your stereo or amp might be running a bit hot,crank up the stereo on a tune that makes it cut out and watch the amp it should have a cut light.

yes sounds like the head unit is getting too hot. could be a week earth on the headunit maybe.

I had that and it was the earth cable was not a thick enough one, changed it for a thicker one and worked fine ever since

Is that the earth cable for the amp or the yellow top or all of them

If your head unit is cuting out id go with the earth on that, your amp should have sufficiant wiring if its been done properly

was on my amp but all the speakers went through the amp

I'd go with the headunit too

Failing that how many amps is your amp trying to pull? Is it causing any other problems?

cheers guys. i'll try with the ground wire to headunit first and see if that makes a difference at all.
