Normal comprehensive insurance policies will only cover you ThirdPFT unless you tell them you want to extend the cover to Euro driving. There may also be a time limit.

I've found an company in London that specialise in Italian car insurance, I've got my insurance through them, and It covers me for 90 days elsewhere in the EU.Hopefully my car will be fine, really worried now.

What about?

For those who like driving, Italy is infinitely preferable to the UK!
After minor adjustments to local styles, much easier too.

Some stunningly beautiful drives around Verona, bit tight for parking spots in town centre though. ( Reveres parking isn't something you want to try too often here....).

Italsure is who most expats use for UK plated insurance.

One thing I should have mentioned - once here get an epass for the autostrada as very few of the toll booths cater for RHD cars, a nuisance if driving alone.

Oh if you are going through Switzerland remember the entry toll is valid for 12 months...oh so many remove the sticker thus destroying it, lol.

You'll love it - some of the great driving roads of Europe on your doorstep, Lake Garda, Stelvio, Trento & the Dolomites in easy reach let alone the string of historic towns lining the Po - Mantova is my fave. Not forgetting Venice, easily doable from verona in a day trip. 8)

Sorry to hear that, at least you found out soon enough - I have previous in overstaying while trying to force a life in a foreign country that didn't suit ( Russia). As it happens, I passed a ( spectral blue?) Calibra outisde Verona airport, I did give it a double take to check for uk plates/rhd..
