inner cv boot

by BazV6er » Sat Sep 25, 2010 11:06 pm

guys i noticed before taking mine for a mot that the inner driveshaft boot is slightly leaking , is it a case of buying a new boot ,undoing old boot and replacing new boot without taking driveshaft out..or so ive heard,

Baz this thread is over a year old, why didnt you just start a new thread
in answer to your question though if its the inner boot the driveshaft needs to come out. its easier taking the driveshaft off to do either of the boots anyway

youll need to drop the lower ball joint so you can pull out the shaft then take the boot off find the circlip and pop off the cv joint so you can put new boot on

its a inner CV boot so it just pulls out from the gear box...or with a wee bit help from a leaver sometimes needed ...just be aware that you will also have gear oil spilling out, so you best have some new stuff ready

Vinny, on a corsa (and a few other VX's for that matter) You can remove the driveshaft complete from the car with only removing the hub nut.
