It is worse for mpg.........its about 80% or so effecient when compared to regular petrol. BUT. It costs half as much.....so if you do a lil' comparative mathematics and jingos, it is "equivilently" better for mpg.....

And bingo was his name-O!! :band:

No no no!! He'll be getting THE EQUIVILENT OF 55 petrol-miles-per-gallon..... In reality, lpg will give him about 20mpg (ish). But!! It costs half as much to buy in the first place. Ergo, if you see the price of all fuels being equal to one-another, he'll be achieving THE EQUIVILENT of 55mpg!!!

EXP.
£50 buys 50l of petrol........and will do 30mpg
£50 buys 100l of lpg..........and will do 20mpg.......but you have twice as much.......so will achieve THE EQUIVILENT of 40mpg.

Make sense?? I really cant explain any clearer than this!!! :banging: :banging: :banging:

RIGHT YOU ARE TALKING CRAP

MPG is MPG end of story

you cant say that buying twice as much fuel still gives the same MPG he may get more miles per £

if you use 1 gallon of fuel no matter what it is the amount of miles you get is your MPG
and if you use £1 of fuel no matter what it is the amount of miles you get is your miles per £

Now that is it as clear as it gets

i dont know how many miles to Gordys, from billing, but my house to my brothers,so that is corby to carluke is 331miles, i use 3quarters of a tank of petrol, so i would say it would be near or so the same amount from billing to gordys asmaybe 340to350 miles

Right so you spend between £25 to £30 to fill your LPG tank up, current prices for LPG (from a website) round your area is .57.9 per litre …so even if you take the least amount

£25 of LPG = 43.17 litres …. 43.17ltrs = 9.5 Gallons now if I did my sums right …360 on 9.5 gallons = 37.88 MPG

Even worse at £30 = 51.8 litres = 11.39 gallons = 31.6 MPG

And did you not stop at the services same time as me and fill up the tank on way down this year?

so between 37.88 and 31.6 mpg so where the F*** does 55MPG come from

RIGHT YOU ARE TALKING CRAP

MPG is MPG end of story

you cant say that buying twice as much fuel still gives the same MPG he may get more miles per £

if you use 1 gallon of fuel no matter what it is the amount of miles you get is your MPG
and if you use £1 of fuel no matter what it is the amount of miles you get is your miles per £

Now that is it as clear as it gets

 I give up! Its all about THE EQUIVILENT COST AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE EFFICENCY OF EACH FUEL!!!

I'll attempt ONE LAST TIME in THE MOST SIMPLEST of terms. Just for you!!

EXAMPLE:

PETROL: It will cost £1.00 to travel 1.0 mile. (100% efficient)
LPG: It will cost £0.50 to travel 0.8 mile. (80% efficient)

To work out the EQUIVILENT mpg:

PETROL: In the above exp, Lets just say you are achieving 1.0mpg
LPG: Again, using the same exp, You'll only achieve 0.8mpg.

THE "COMPLICATED" MATHS BIT:

Double the amount of LPG to match the price of petrol:
£0.50 x2 = £1.00

Respectively, double the mpg that you get with LPG:
0.8mpg x2 = 1.6mpg

THUS, THE EQUIVIELENT MPG AND COST IN THIS EXAMPLE IS:

PETROL AMOUNT FOR £1.00: 1 GALLON
PETROL MPG: 1.0

LPG AMOUNT FOR £1.00: 2 GALLONS
LPG MPG: 1.6

***OR***

THE SAME £1.00 THAT BUYS 1.0 GALLON OF PETROL WILL BUY 2.0 GALLONS OF LPG.
2 GALLONS OF LPG WILL ALLOW YOU TO TRAVEL 1.6 MILES.

PETROL MPG: 1.0
LPG AT EQUIVILENT COST MPG: 1.6

So what have we learnt today class?? We have learnt:
- That LPG at base cost price will only allow you to travel 0.8 miles
-But if we compare it to the same price as fuel, we will be able to travel 0.6 miles further!!
-So this means in 99.999% of cases, that whereas LPG is only 80% efficient compared to petrol but because you get twice as much for the same price, it works out to be cheapest automotive fuel to use for your car.

.............now if that isnt clear, I recommend you leave this topic and stop boggling your head with it because you'll never get it!! Its not as if its degree maths here. Just simple understanding!! :ugeek:

RANDOM LPG FUN FACTS
We can also state Jason Plato's recent argument about some BTCC cars using LPG as an unfair advantage as the engines are producing MORE hp than race fuel!! Another quick fact for you is LPG is used in the Palmer Jaguar race car at Oulton Park as it produces "around 50hp more than standard track fuel".

Now i'm not saying your standard road engine will produce more hp with LPG because it wont!! These race engines are specifically engineered for it!!
