let vs v6
Hey guys.....i'm very much considering buying my old calibra turbo back. BUT. I fancy a change. I'd like to remove the let engine and install a v6 unit of some size. Obviously, the f28 and 4x4 would remain, thus making a 4x4 v6.
Long story short. What is involved in this transplant??

Re: let vs v6
I have seen it done before with a black calibra if i remember right. Still used the omega inlet plenums too....The LETS's just abit tired even when I last drove it. And i'd like to put it on a stand for next years engine project. 3.0 v6's arnt too hard to come by so rather than waste ownership by layin it up, I thought why not put something unusual in there..

Re: let vs v6
Chip has (had?) a V6 4x4 Calibra. Perhaps contact him to see what precisely is involved though I believe the work was done by Specky of fastest-ever-FWD-Vauxhall fame. In mainland Europe it isn't a particulalry rare conversion.
As mentioned above, the rear bank manifold/ downpipe needs modifying to clear the transfer box which, iirc, in turn needs a light grind to fit on the V6 block.
Once I've finished my throttle bodied Calibra Turbo ( and get home for a few months...) I'll be doing a V6 4x4 conversion. However my plan involves using extensively tuned V6s starting with an initial 250bhp NA engine. Given the extra weight and transmission loss of the 4x4 system, if I was using a V6 of less than 240bhp I would stick with the far simpler option of 2wd converted F28 + Quaife ATB diff.
