by BazV6er » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:36 pm

ordered one yesterday lunchtime and recieved it this morning ,checked it out and its all there and nice and shiny lol.

so now just gotta wait till the 7th may to get it fitted for a great price and it wouldnt be happening unless andy (callyman) didnt sort it for us as thats the earliest andys mate could get me in.

its a LUK/sachs kit i think so for the next mth ive got the tigra a while longer but its worth the wait.

cheers andy

0nly a few weeks till its repaired, i bought some new ARB links and a new cv boot kit for the split one that is located in the middle of the driveshaft so we can change that while driveshaft is out .

cant wait to be able to drive it again soon

Errmmm.....
Depends how you're going to do it Baz
An engine support beam (Trolley jack under the sump is a bodge, but works)
Disconnect clutch cable, and reverse light switch
Remove downpipes back to cat (New exhaust gaskets needed, manifold to downpipe, and downpipe to Cat)
Undo lower arms from hub and split joints (May need new split pins when fitting back together)
Undo hub nut, to push driveshafts out (Will need new split pins when fitting back together)
Remove driveshafts from gearbox
Drop subframe
Get big strong man to remove F25
Replace clutch
Refit

I've never taken an engine out in 17 years just to do a clutch  far tooooo much work/effort on a FWD chassis

120kgs+ engine, fuel pipes, sensors etc etc,

Vs

60kgs gearbox, driveshafts, gearlinkage, reverse switch......

If I was doing it, the box would be dropped from the underside, hence my reply above :)

every time we have done a clutch we have always done loads of other stuff at the same time so we take the engine out, it only take us 1/2 hour to get it out now, think the Drain's engine can get in and out it's self by now lol

If the engine is staying in situ then you won't need antifreeze, but it wouldn't hurt to do a flush/renew of the coolant. Same really for the trans fluid, drain and renew.

Do it whilst you can, save a job later on.
