Space saver wheel compartment

by sinbrad » Wed Oct 13, 2010 6:33 pm

Just a quick one guys, can anyone tell me if there is any sort of wooden cover which slots over the space saver wheel compartment? I ask because I just have a boot
carpet and a bit of spongy material covering mine and if I place anything sort of heavy into the boot the carpet dips in the middle?

That's the sort of thing I was thinking about but wondered if anything was actually fitted there in the first place, seems not? Strange there wasn't something more rigid to stop the dip or is that just due to time?

The space saver wheel is there but the dip that's been created is the shape of the wheel! I've tried padding it up in the past with boot carpets from another cali in
the scrappie but you can still see the outline of the wheel/compartment. Just want to get it looking better that's all

the very early calibras1990-91 did have a hardboard cover but GM,decided that there wasnt any need for it and stopped making them for it,so unfortunatley you will never be able to get them from Vauxhall as they were obsolete from mid 1991, you will just have to build one or try and source one from another GM model
