Eddey's V6 - New Headlight Bulbs

by EddeyDancer » Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:21 am

The 'Osram Nightbreaker' Bulbs were fitted recently...

I've been driving with them for a few weeks now, and the difference is actually, quite surprisingly significant...
Although they are of NO comparison with the HID's, I'm actually satisfied with the Improvement

Plus with the Headlights off, I was able to give the 'Front Crash Panel' a Good Cleaning Up!!!

I also fitted H3 - 9 SMD's in the Front Fog Light Section...
The H3 LED's provided less light dispersion, but a nicer light colour!

They can remain in there for now, till I decide otherwise!

Eddey's V6 - Blown Front Speaker

by EddeyDancer » Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:36 am

FRONT SPEAKERS REPLACED...

Recently I noticed that one of the Front Speakers was Blown...
I wasn't sure if the Original speaker mounts, were discarded when the Speaker is replaced?
Or if the mounts were removed, and then fitted onto the New Speakers!!!

I was at the Wreckers recently, and noticed a Vectra minus a front door trim...
Discovered that the Vectra front speakers, are exactly the same as the Calibra front speakers!
I was lucky to score a Pair in Great Condition, and fitted them as soon as I got home!

Eddey's V6 - V-Grille back on!!!

by EddeyDancer » Fri Dec 23, 2011 5:54 pm

SO HAPPY... IT LOOKS LIKE A 'CALIBRA' AGAIN!!!

I finally fitted the Replacement V-Grille, after having it off for a while...
I took the V-Grille off for just over 7 weeks, to see if I'd get used to it being off...

Although 'The Ghost' still looked Awesome minus the V-Grille, to Me it always looked like, something was missing!!!
Plus I'm NOT a Skyline Fan, so I couldn't wait to get the V-Grille back on, to give it that distinct 'Calibra' look...

The external appearance aspects, are pretty much complete now!

GOT LUCKY AND SCORED SOME VECTRA V6 PARTS THIS WEEK...

I got the Cam Shaft Sensor, Metal Cam Covers, and the Thermostat, Water Pipe and Top Hose complete...
I decided to not delay, so I replaced the Cam Shaft Sensor, and fitted only the Front Metal Cam Cover for now...

After spending about an hour or two giving the Cam Cover a good cleaning, both parts were then fitted...
I also checked on the front 3 Spark Plugs, and also gave them a bit of a clean...

Test Drive: The Ghost makes a Nice Clean and Smooth sound, as I put the foot down!
Now... I just have to wait for the 'Serviced Fuel Injectors' to get here, before I can do anymore Engine Work!

So it's back to work on the Interior, switching the Front Seat Mechanisms and setting up the Heated Seat Wiring!

I WENT TO THE WRECKERS AGAIN...

I was seeking the four bolts that connect the Throttle body to the Manifold...
Then I got lucky, as there was a Saab V6 with it's Engine Intact, so off I went with My Tools...

Well I scored a fair bit of useful V6 Engine Parts, and learnt quite alot as well that day!!!
I'm really getting so much more confident, with working on the V6 Engine!!!

So I left that place, with a very big smile on my face!!!

Eddey's V6 - Rattle at Rear

by EddeyDancer » Wed Dec 28, 2011 4:37 pm

WOO HOO... I FINALLY SILENCED THAT ANNOYING RATTLE!!!

Recently I Fitted the Newer Rubber Mounts, Bushings and Inner Sleeves...

The Rubber Mounts although they were fairly worn, were NOT the cause of this problem!
The Metal Sleeve that sits in the centre of the Bottom Mount, was actually the cause of the rattle...

These were all replaced, and NOT a single rattle sound anymore!!! ;D
I also got to give the wheels a good clean up, and Inspected the Rear Brake pads ;)

*Click on the Photo below, to view the Video of the outcome...

Replaced both Front ABS Sensors due to a Code 41

Being that these are part of the TC System, I decided to try my luck!
Bonus: I also got to inspect the Brake Pad levels and clean the ABS Rings...

The Front ABS Rings were quite dirty, as were the Front ABS Sensors...

We'll see how it goes over the next few weeks...

Eddey's V6 - Activity Update

by EddeyDancer » Wed Dec 28, 2011 5:13 pm

IT'S BEEN VERY BUSY MONTH DOWN UNDER:
I'll be doing some Engine Work, once I get My hands on these Serviced Injectors...
I've also learnt quite a fair bit this month, and scored heaps of great parts as well...
So it's been a very productive month indeed, for me...

ENGINE WORK STILL TO DO:
Thermostat - Cooler Running
Lower Inlet Divider - Upgrade
Metal Rocker Cover - Upgrade
Fuel Injectors - Serviced Bosch
Polished & Ported Inlet Manifold

ENGINE WORK DONE RECENTLY:
Spark Plugs New - NGK Iridium
Ignition Leads New - Bosch V6
Cleaned up the Throttle Body
Cleaned up the Idle Control Valve
Cleaned up the Inlet Manifold Ports
Replaced the Traction Control motor

That will complete the 'Engine Phase' and 'Interior Phase' is almost done as well...
That only leaves the 'Suspension Phase' to do, but that's Low Priority
