Another change of plan, down to one Cally now..

by Stupink » Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:51 pm

After much pondering, I have decided not to rebuild the calibra (scrapheap) as it was simply going to cost too much money for very little benifit, I had a good play with it last build, and got as much power out of it as i'd wanted and enjoyed it. the rebuild would have cost far more than the car was worth and would have been about the same power, just more reliable.

It was sat in the garage untill i could afford to rebuild, but ended up doing a swap my old fiesta for an mr2 roaster with turbo conversion. a nice handling car, light, and reasonably nippy, should give me 10x the fun on track, which is what i've really wanted to be doing with the cally. as im sure no one would have bought it in bits, I have had to strip the remainder and scrap it. :alright: :violin:

still have the other turbo locked away in the garage one day i still hope to do the v8 conversion on it, but for now I am going to do the mr2 so i can actually get out to some shows and track days.. hope im forgiven lol.

once i've got it all stripped i'll probably just link up to most things on ebay.. anyone desperate for random bits can always send me a pm, but keep it off site this is not a for sale advert. i'll get some pics and details on the roadster (aka the little gay car) soon as the cally is gone and its in the garage.. I have a lot of plans for it, all track based :)

Shame you are having to break it but I suppose your plans make sense and im sure the little gay car will make for a fun track car.

Cheers for popping the bits up on the weekend, after changing so many things over the last couple of months it would appear the clutch problem is finally sorted and im sure your'll be pleased to see your spares in another cally that seems to spend just as long parked up in the garage

So wheres these pics so we can all have a giggle

Ahh well, it should be fun anyhow, with minimal work it should be as fast as the calibra was, but handle much better, so be more fun around the track, The hairdryer is a Garrett GT28R i think, I need to do some chargecooling, new exhaust, roll bar and remap the ECU (greddy emanage piggyback) for the new manifold/exhaust i'm adding.. then i can drive it..

then i plan to fit some coil overs, bodykit, light race alloys, beef up the brakes, boost controller, antiroll bars, poly bush it up.. strutt braces :) probably some other stuff, should be a nice little track car. however much i *will* miss the calibra, it could never have compared on a drivability basis. I just need to find some vauxhall part i can put on so im not banned from the shows in it :p
