ENGINE PHASE DAY TWO:

I was off to a good start being that...

I Modified a Bolt, that eventually did secure the R1 Bracket... So Rear Cam Cover is now done!!!
I was also in luck being that the Local Mechanic lent me the Special Socket, and I was able to easily
remove the bolt that secures the Thermostat Extension Pipe...

I then got to the 'Hard Part' of removing the Famous Pipe...
I spent a few Hours on this and yes, the Tab broke off...

So that's where I'm at right now!!!

I was feeling rather down yesterday, but I'm well rested and ready to go at it again...

I even found a supplier who has this Extension Pipe, so I'm going to be patient and fit a Brand New Pipe instead of the Old Part I scored at the Wreckers...
Plus, it'll give me time to learn how to remove the Radiator, and also replace the Radiator Fan Switch...

It's going to be fine, but it's best to do the rare jobs like this, the right way first time!!! :bazooka:

ENGINE PHASE: BACK IN ACTION...

Having ditched the distraction, AKA The Useless Ex-Girlfriend...

I actually made some progess today, in that I finally removed 'The Headache' Thermostat Extension Pipe!!!
The Extension Pipe was really corroded, and the only way to remove it, was to smash the Thermostat Housing...
I drilled a few holes into the Thermostat Housing, to weaken it... I then got out the Hammer and Chisel and went to work!!!

I'll be getting stuck into it tomorrow, and I'm hoping that the 'ENGINE PHASE' will be completed by the weekend...
If all goes well with re-fitting the New Thermostat Housing and Extension Pipe, The Ghost will be ready even sooner!!!

I'll know more, this time tomorrow...

ENGINE PHASE: ACTIVITY UPDATE

I got right into completing the 'ENGINE PHASE' last night, and I actually did pretty well...

I was hoping to fit the New 'Thermostat Extension Pipe' without having to remove the Radiator, but that's not happening...

Anyway, I decided to use an Old Pipe that has a Broken Tab, just so I can fit the rest of the Engine Parts back on and get it started...

As the Radiator will have to come off when I fit the New Condensor and the Lower Temp Radiator Fan Switch, I decided to wait till then
and do them all at once, but who know's what will happen in the next week or so... I might change my mind, if I feel motivated...

But it certainly started up with a 'ROAR' so I'm very keen to see what impact, the new parts will have...

Just the New Condensor, New Radiator Fan Switch and the New Thermostat Extension Pipe to be fitted now...

Thanks Mate!!!

I started it up and let it run for a while, and that's now charged up the Battery...

There was a weird sound coming from near the Timing Belt Cover, but that disappeared once warmed up... :shifty:
I'm looking at making a Tab, to connect part of the broken tab to the Engine for the time being...

I'm just wanting to take it for a Drive, but it's a bit risky so I just have to be a bit more patient...
But the cooling system seems to working better, without the Thermostat...

Today I made a Connection Bracket out of metal, and I fitted it to the Thermostat Extension Pipe...

It's only a temporary fix till I get the New Condensor here from the UK, which will take about 6 weeks by Sea...

It was great to finally have a decent drive after 10 weeks sitting, and it sounds heaps smoother with the New Parts fitted...

Soon it's out with the Radiator, as to fit the New Condensor, New Radiator Fan Switch and New Thermostat Pipe!

That will then finally conclude the ENGINE PHASE!!! :shifty:

The GHOST hit 175,000 Km Last Night...

The results of the 'ENGINE PHASE UPGRADE' are certainly quite noticeable... :D

Mainly being that the Engine sounds 'Heaps Smoother' and the 'Throttle Response' has also improved...

I'll also monitor the Fuel Economy and the Spark Plus wells for Oil, over the next few weeks...

The 'SUSPENSION PHASE' is basically all that's now left to do...

I'll be doing the work on the Rear, but the Front I'll get done by the Mechanic!!!

That will commence as soon as the 'Final Shipment' get's organised...

ACTIVITY UPDATE:

I'm Extremely Pleased with the results, of the recent 'ENGINE PHASE' work!!! :)

I've now driven just over 1000 Kilometers, since I Upgraded the Front Cam Cover...

Last night I inspected the Front Spark Plug wells, and was Very Pleased to see that the Spark Plugs and Leads, were all Totally Oil Free!!!

This certainly has made the drive so much smoother, and has also gotten rid of that sluggishness upon acceleration... :D
