Not boosting correctly again....

by Jamesyboy » Sat Nov 03, 2012 3:21 am

My turbo is holding back, and flutters whilst boosting..... Running eds phase 2, changed the plugs yesterday, seemed to run fine for a day, now has gone back to as it was. Its mainly in 4th gear it does this... any ideas??

it is now back to how i got it from steve, 14psi overboost holds 12 (im not sure i trust the gauge as at phase 2 its should be at 19 overboost and hold at 14)...It was driving pretty well last night until on my way home, boost was all over the place, sometimes it was fluttering and holding back, sometimes it was just not boosting above 10psi Ive spotted the helper spring mod somewhere, i may give it a go, the rod is quite hard to move..... ive also just spotted it has a 3.0 bar fpr on it, im pretty sure it should be at 3.5 at phase 2... ive checked all the boost and vac hoses and seem fine to me....

im not "messing" with fuel delivery, its fact that 3.5 bar pressure regulator is needed at phase 2

James, The FPR is more thn likely 3.5 bar.
To make one into a 3.5 from a 3.0 it needs squashing in a vice with a socket, so reading the outside wont tell you what it is, unless you put a gauge on the fuel rail

My main issue is in 4th and 5th gears, in 2nd and 3rd its rare that i hit peak boost, and its just a spinning mess LOL but 4th, i can boost upto 4k, just as its going to hit peak boost, it just makes fluttery noises and holds back..... Help :-(

Well, ive done the spring helper mod to the actuator, and my god, what a huuuuuuge improvement!!! So is a weak actuator.... Spools up at just under 2k instead of 3 before, and does just what it should, ive not given it beans yet as im waiting on the right plugs coming in, i dont wanna make it go bang!!
