Depends on who you ask and where you go for an MOT
'Most' are currently going through MOT's ok.
Mine did 2 weeks ago.

"Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 it is an offence to supply, fit or use vehicle parts which are not legal. .... In summary it is not permitted to convert an existing halogen headlamp unit for use with HID bulbs. The entire headlamp unit must be replaced with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs and it must be installed in accordance with the rules stated".
Re: A Bus with Calibra headlamps.....
all vehicles with xenon lighting have to have headlamp washer systems and automatic levelling fitted by law
Re: A Bus with Calibra headlamps.....
its them fools that fitted HID's to reflector lens that caused all the problems ...Calibra with the projection lens never caused any problems in all the years I had them fitted
Re: A Bus with Calibra headlamps.....
tbh a calibra really needs them aswell
i would say it was far more dangerous to run standard bulbs in calibra lights than to use hid's

Re: A Bus with Calibra headlamps.....
Here's what I've been able to find out:
For the purposes of an MOT, there must be a clearly defined beam pattern suitable for driving on the left with the pattern at the correct height. The colour must be yellow or white as judged by the tester. That's it.
as to why the washers are there legally ive yet to find.

Its all down to the tester if they let it through or not...But if you get an arsey copper thats not in a good mood.... he could beat you with the book!
Re: A Bus with Calibra headlamps.....
