TIDY UP YOUR CALIBRA...

Just an 'Example' of some work I've done recently, for others...

Thought I'd share this Information, so others can use it as a Guide to check up on Your Calibra!!!

Where shall we Start???
:think:

FUSE BOX:
Inspected both Fuse Boxes - Some missing and some were incorrect

DASH AREA:
Steering Column Shrouds fitted correctly - Wrong/Missing Screws
Dash Display Shrouds misaligned - Fitted Correctly
Fitted Heater Control Panel Bulb - Was blown
Fitted Trip Computer Bulb - Was blown
Replaced some Instrument Panel Bulbs - Blown
Replaced Ingnition Key Surround - Was warped
Fitted Bulb in Oil/Volt Gauges - Was blown
Replaced A/C Switch - Bulb was blown
Replaced Glove Box Light Unit - Was burnt out
Replaced Hazard Light Switch - Looked too old
Centre Air Vents Cleaned- Very Dirty

INTERIOR TRIMMINGS:
Replaced Sunvisor Clip - Was Incorrect Part
Upgraded Interior Light and fitted with LED's - Bug Eyes or Tinted Styles
Fitted Cover to Passenger Seat Bolt - Was missing
Replaced Handbrake Gaitor - Flaking Badly
Replaced Sunroof Liner - Was Very Dirty and Sagging
Tightened all Screws on Door Trims and fitted Trim Caps - Loose and missing caps
Replaced Console Screws with the correct screws, and tightened everything - Incorrect

ENGINE BAY:
Replaced Washer Bottle Cap with GM Part
Fitted Front Wiper Caps - Both were missing
Removed and cleaned Windscreen Cowl and Sealing Strip
Replaced Pollen Filter - Was Very Very Very Dirty
Adjusted Front Wipers to their correct position
Replaced correct Battery Clamp and Bolt - Incorrect parts
Replaced Dip Stick GM Unbroken - Was Broken
Fitted Accelerator Cable Safety Clip - Was missing
Fitted Power Steering Bottle Bracket - Was missing
Replaced Bonnet Stem Catch - Was broken
Oil in Front 3 Spark Plug Wells - Oil Extracted

BOOT AREA:
Fitted correct Knob to Storage Section of Safety Triangle Reflector - Was missing
Replaced Centre Brake Light Unit and did the wiring properly - Kaput
Fitted 4 x new Bulbs in the Centre Brake Light Unit - 1 was blown
Fitted Rubber Gasket for Centre Brake Light - Was missing
Aligned Rear Wiper Motor and Wiper Arm - Used better Bolts - Was loose and incorrectly fitted
Fitted Tailgate Trim properly, and changed all bolts - now tight - Incorrect Bolts used
Fitted Boot Rubber Mat Sound Deadening - Was missing
Fitted LED's in the Boot Light and Rear Number Plate Lamps
Tightened Rear Parcel Tray screws - Were loose


I spent quite a few Hours on these Calibra's...

Everything that was done, was done properly, and the correct parts were used to restore the quality...

I'll most likely add to this 'Extensive List' if I recall something later, that I might have forgotten...

Whats worrying is the broken dipstick?? I hope it wasnt the wrong end that was broken and there is a bit of metal floating around your engine!! haha

I replaced his door handles, and finally convinced him to ditch the shaggy seat covers...

Also did some Engine Work and for him recently, so he's happy with how it's running now...

How easy was the handbrake gaitor to fit?..I need mine doing....aswell as a list of little jobs.

I'm long weekend off so I should get cracking...

Mate...

Use this list to help you go over your car...
Obviously not everything will apply, or need doing, but it's a good Guide anyway...

The Handbrake Gaitor is a Pest of a Job, being that the plastic mounting bracket, isn't that strong...
It may even break during removal, so try and score a spare bracket, and get the Gaitor fitted on that first...

Then it's just a straight swap...

when fitting it back, I tried using a staple gun, but it was a fail...
I removed all the staples using a small screw driver, then fitted them all back by hand...

I also suggest to get a decent quality 'Real Leather' Gaitor, instead of the fake Original Style...

I glued my handbrake gaiter on as the leather was a bit thick to get the staples through, use super glue and do it in stages like the front first and once dry start on the sides and work your way back. only thing i had to do was stop the leather wearing away at the front right side of the bracket and did this by whittling away some of the plastic at that edge. about 4mm did it.
It is an easy fix and worth doing with a matching gearstick gaiter
