End of a Calibra
It is with great regret that my Calibra turbo will not be going back on the road. After much thought and decision making I have decided not to contniue with the project. The reason for this is there has been far too much rust and rot found on the shell floor pans and chassis. The more I looked and stripped the shell over winter the more rot I found. The bulk head has rotted at the joins to inner arches.one of the chassis rails ahs completely rotted through at rear. The passenger side floor pan is just about falling out amoung a whole host of other rot problems. After getting a quote for all the work it would cost far more than the car will ever be worth. I haven't got the time or space to fabricate all the new parts that would be required and fit/ weld them on my drive way. I will take some pics and upload them and see what peoples opinions are.
But I am not giving up on Calibras and already on the hunt for another one (preferably a turbo). All the remaining good parts from my current projrct will be kept and used as spares.

Makes Sense James, we all spend more on them to improve them and keep them going but spending a fortune just to get it useable? I would also bin/sell/strip it.

Good to see its not put you off mate, hopefully you'll find one in better condition. As Andy says sometimes the head has to rule over the heart.
BETTER TO HAVE A CALIBRA AND NOT NEED ONE, THAN NEED A CALIBRA AND NOT HAVE ONE!!!

If the engine in your turbo is ok James have you thought about a doner non turbo with a good body and do a transplant, you can then just run 2wd instead of the 4wd saves having transfer box etc, also less weight and maintenance! But if your looking for an original they do come along now and then but getting very rare now good luck keep trying

Re: End of a Calibra
I can sell you mine as a rolling shell fairly cheap, with as much or as little extras on it as you need
Could do a complete car minus the engine (it's got Bilsteins, Eibachs, fully painted trailing arms, powdercoated subframe etc)
