If it were me I'd:

Put it on axle stands
Unbolt calipers, bottom shock bolt, 4x body bolts
Remove rear suspension with wheels attached
Wire wheel it all
Paint with hammerite smooth brush-on (get 2.5L off eBay)
Change bushes as required
Refit

I was thinking about that.....seems the better idea....it's just getting it bolted back up that bothers me mate.

Plus I noticed while cranking the engine the RPM on the gauge don't move at all....New crank sensor.

This is true....I can shot blast small stuff at work...but out new blaster is not big enough.....the old one would have done it....in bits through.

Should the RPM needle move when cranking ?

I would not choose hammerite. It will peel after some time. There are more robust coatings out there.
POR-15 is more resilient.

I'll use anything I can get my hands on at the moment.....Lol just wish it would start....only if I knew what was the issue and be able to sort it out....need to check the timing marks to rule out the timing belt idea....I'm not too fussed at the moment as the car is safe and dry.

only to find that it was really clean.....now i know from the history that the skirts were removed and replaced by the previous owner as the old ones looks shabby.

Petrol tank straps were removed and shot blasted at work...and painted...

After though...it was a but worse for wear....duel skin heat shield had rusted badly...

Image

rear end....not much metal left.....only just usable....will make a new one asap at work....but for now a few washers will hold it.

Image

New rear brake hoses on order....and copper line and flare kit to go with it....from flexi hose to caliper will be replaced.
