Alloy wheel size, offset, tyres...

by Cliff » Tue Jun 07, 2016 9:27 pm

Hi

I am going to put some 17's on my Cliff (I still want some kind of ride comfort with where I live so anything bigger is out). Cliff is lowered out of the factory, same as the DTM I think (30mm?) - I absolutely don't want any rubbing or other hassles.

I currently have 205 55 16s (BBS) so I was thinking 205 40 17s - right size given the rim size increase? 205 or 215?

And for offset, I know GM have a high offset, highest I can get in the wheel design I am looking at is 42 - should be OK though I assume, low mileage per year anyhow - right?

Cheers
Andrew

Think 215/40/17
Will give closer diameter/rolling circumference etc.

Good website to compare

Might be a bit late but this is a very informative website

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

has a nifty tyre size calculator about 2/3 way down the page too.
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.

I've previously fitted, on ET40 wheels, I suggest tyre size of 205/45R17 with the option of fitting 225/45R17 on the Rear
Tyres of a 40 profile will give You a harsh ride, as well as looking too small for a Calibra on 17 inch wheels...
