Eddey's V6 - The Stocky...
Coolant Leak - Oil Cooler Top Plate GM 90 501 955
ACTIVITY UPDATE: 12 NOV 17 @ 111,300 Km
Just when all seemed to be going well, having fixed the two coolant leaks just a week ago, another leak sprung up...
From what I could see, I suspected that the Oil Cooler Top Plate sealant gasket, must have deteriorated...
So as I started stripping it down to the Oil Cooler, my suspicion was almost confirmed...
The Oil Cooler Top Plate was seriously corroded... Lucky I had a spare, in stock...
I removed the Oil Cooler to check on it's condition, and it certainly needed some cleaning up...
The Oil Cooler Well, was drained of coolant, in order to prepare for refitting and resealing of the Parts...
I suspect that the previous owner had changed the Oil Cooler, as an Upgraded Version Oil Cooler was fitted...
The area was cleaned up, and the Oil Cooler was refitted and the replacement Top Plate was fitted using Red Gasket Sealant...
The Lower Manifold, lower gaskets were very compressed, so they also needed to be replaced...
The previous Engine Work that I had done was @ 84,905 Km = 26,390 Km distance travelled...
The Middle and Upper Manifolds were then refitted to the correct specified torques...
Everything else was put back together, and the car sat 24 hours, for the sealant to cure..
24 hours later, I fitted a New AC Delco Oil Filter, topped up on Oil (15w 40) and Coolant (Nulon Type A - 6 year or 500,000 Km)
It started up first go, and sounded much more healthier... I took it for a Test Drive, filled up on Fuel and added a bottle of Valvoline Injector Cleaner...
One thing that I've noticed over the last few days, is that the Engine Temperature rarely goes over 95 degrees now...

I’ve heard it’s a pig of a job so hats off to you. How long did it take? Any problems with the oil feed pipes?

Seriously, in my opinion, it's NOT that bad of a job... 8 Hours all up, of Top Quality workmanship... I'm a Perfectionist...
I just took the relevant photos, not every single detail... I have more detailed pics, earlier on in this Profile...

Fuel Filter Replaced & Rear Wheels Balanced...
ACTIVITY UPDATE: 24 NOV 17 @ 111,795 Km
I finally replaced the Fuel Filter, and I wouldn't be surprised if the one that got replaced, was the Original Part fitted in 1995...
When I blew into it, heaps of black stuff came out... It's certainly made an immediate noticeable impact, when I accelerate...
I also got the Rear Wheels Balanced, gave them a good clean up, and lubricated the wheel bolts...
I'm really glad that I cleaned up the Rear Wheels, as I also noticed that the Rear Brake Pads, are very low 2mm...
That's the next thing to do...

REPLACED K26 RELAY & REAR BRAKE PADS
ACTIVITY UPDATE: 23 DEC 17 @ 112,525 Km
Got the Rear Brake Pads replaced, just in time before the Festive Holidays...
Recently I was having issues with the Cooling Fans staying ON for way too long, after switching the V6 Engine off...
This situation got worse gradually, then to the point where it started to fully drain my battery...
After doing some research, the K26 Relay (Grey) was replaced, and no more dramas..
Got the Rear Brake Pads replaced, just in time before the Festive Holidays...

INTERIOR BULBS REPLACED
ACTIVITY UPDATE: 26 JAN 18 @ 113,478 Km
I was feeling a bit motivated, and decided to replace the blown Heater Control Panel Bulb...
I also replaced the LED bulb that I fitted in the centre ashtray, cigarette lighter area...
Now all is matching, and looks more complete...

Yes Mate... I had to replace the Alternator Cooling Fan Switch on the V6, as the Fans would stay on and drain the battery...

FRONT TYRES REPLACED
ACTIVITY UPDATE: 27 SEP 19 @ 125,000 Km
The time had come, where the front tyres needed replacing...
Fitted 2 x Goodyear Optilife tyres on the front, plus Balancing...
I went up a size on the tyre profile, and the drive quality, is so much better...
Tyre Size fitted on front: 205/55R16 instead of 205/50R16

REPLACED CRANKSHAFT SENSOR
ACTIVITY UPDATE: 09 OCT 20 @ 132,535 Km
Replaced the V6 Crankshaft Sensor, with GM Part No 90 505 999
The car wasn't running well at all, had difficulty starting up, and would stall whilst driving...
The Paperclip Test was conducted, and revealed was the Fault Code 19 even though no EML...
Turns out the sensor cable got damaged somehow, and the sensor was also heavily stained and covered in oil...
The car starts first go and is now driving really well, nice and smooth idle... Original Part No. GM 90 357 481

It was not a difficult job at all, and I advise everyone to give their Crankshaft sensor a clean...
This small issue made my car go bezerk, and made it extremely dangerous to drive...

Not sure about it's location on the other motors, but on the V6 it's to the right of the Oil Filter...
